Pastel Paintings--California Period

"Alsalfisar"
"Alsalfisar" is perhaps Vance's most beautiful abstract from his California period. We are using it for the cover and lead painting of our collaboration, "New Colors."
We are interested in finding the whereabouts of the original pastel.




"Engineering Space"

"Engineering Space"

The original 17X23" pastel is owned by Sidne and Thom Schinkel of Scottsdale Arizona, and is one of a set of three Vance painted probably in the early 1980s.

We are interested in discovering the whereabouts of the other two.




"Dawn of a New Society" is a pastel painting and is one of Vance's many abstracts from his California period. It was published in the Holistic Health Journal in 1999 accompanying my article, "Changing Prisons Into Hospitals."

This pastel is one of Vance's many female images from early in his California period. It was used on the cover of a Holistic Health Journal promotion in 1999 for a series on cancer.

This pastel is one of Vance's many abstracts from his California period (1980-1995). It was made into a print, together with a companion painting, "Catch Your Dreams Like Thunder," below.

"Alsalfisar 4" is one of Vance's few early pastels that was made into a print. It is typical of his early ribbon and coral-bone style. This painting may have originally had a different name, and we are interested in learning the whereabouts of the original work.
